"We provide exceptional quality
eye-care for over 30 years"

To ensure that your most precious sense
is protected and healthy

With the prevalance of age related eye diseases such as Glaucoma, Diabetic eye disease, Cataract and Macular degeneration HAVING A comprehensive eye examination has never been so important.

Our fully-qualified optometrists are given a generous amount of time to examine each patient with the latest high-tech instrumentation not found in every optician, such as Fundus Camera, Phoropter and Digital Slit Lamp. This enables them to provide in-depth superior quality ocular examinations to all age groups.

Your eye examination will be tailored to your individual situation – your lifestyle, health, family history and symptoms.

We will examine your eyes to find the optimal prescription for your visual needs together with a range of tests to determine the health of your eyes.  We will measure your eye pressures, check your fields of vision and take retinal photographs - these images give a wider view of the retina – which enable us to compare the images at each visit so even very subtle changes can be picked up at the earliest stages, much earlier than a basic eye test.

Many ocular conditions, such as glaucoma, do not give any symptoms until their later stages.  Detection and referral to an eye surgeon at an early stage can help to prevent progression or any permanent visual loss. Other common conditions, such as cataract and macular degeneration, can be monitored and managed appropriately. Your retina is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be seen directly. This means that in addition to eye conditions, signs of other general health diseases (for example, stroke, heart disease, hypertension and diabetes) can also be seen.

For information on specific eye problems, such as cataract, glaucoma, diabetes and macular degeneration please view our page on eye conditions

30 Minute Eye Examination

Often, an eye test
will only last 10-15 minutes.

Why are our appointments longer?

Because we give you the time and the care you deserve. We are determined to find the best solution for each, individual lifestyle. We listen to people's needs and concerns, and use the most up to date technology in our consulting rooms.

We do our best to ensure we see you clearly. Our Optometrists take time to understand a full eye health history, and ask you important questions about current concerns and your general health. They also take into account your lifestyle and visual needs.

"Everyone’s eyesight is different,
we tailor our eye examination to
your individual needs"

Do not be concerned if you or the person you may accompany have communication or reading difficulties as we will use more suitable methods such as asking to sign or identify shapes.

Please bring with you or pre-advise details of your medications, any relevant ocular or family history of problems such as glaucoma or macular degeneration, and if you are having problems with a particular visual task, information about its size, distance from you and if possible its position relative to your central eyeline.

Following your eye examination we will give you an explanation of your vision and ocular health. Our digital instruments allow us to show you what we can see and helps in gaining a better understanding of what's happening. We will advise you of any corrective prescriptions that you may require and an optometrist or a dispensing optician will be on hand to offer first-rate advice on frames and lenses to ensure you have the information to make the correct choice of eyewear for your needs. Using our new 3D animation device we can show how thick your lenses will actually be and explain to you all the different lens designs and coatings.

We will recommend when you should attend for your next eye examination.  Details are entered on our secure computer database and a reminder will be sent when your next examination becomes due.

"Our mission is to help you see perfectly, look great and give you the individual care and attention you deserve"

Whether you want to continue playing rugby and need contact lenses or love cooking but finding those recipes hard to read whilst juggling childcare - we listen to you, get a true understanding of your needs and then find the best solution for you, be it glasses, prescription sunglasses, contact lenses or a combination.

When you collect your new spectacles, they will be checked and the fitting adjusted to ensure your comfort and clearest vision. As part of the continuing aftercare Makis Eleftheriou Opticians are happy to adjust or make minor repairs to them. If you have any problems with your spectacles or contact lenses, please make sure you contact us as soon as possible.

We believe that every person who requires optical assistance should be understood completely, by learning exactly how they live their lives, from the moment they open their eyes in the morning to the moment they close them at night.

We do not simply sell glasses and contact lenses; we give the best possible solutions for unique lifestyles, enabling our eye care clients to enjoy the world they see…

We give peace of mind.
